My grandma's house is falling apart but she refuses to leave 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

I am really worried about my grandma. Her mobile home from the 1970s is literally falling apart. The ceiling in the bathroom is cracked, and a beam in a bedroom has broken. There are puddles of water on the roof from dents, and the carpet is always damp. The ceiling fan in the kitchen is hanging on by just a few screws and the walls get hot when you use an outlet. The worst part is she refuses to move. She keeps saying it's all "fixable" and that she can do it herself. Her plan is to get a new roof and ignore all the electrical and interior problems. The whole place is full of mold and she has lost all of her hair in the last few months, but she doesn't think it's from the house. I have no idea what to do or where to even begin. She won't listen to me, and I am so worried for her health and safety. 😭😭😭 I am hoping someone has been through a similar situation and can tell me how to handle this. #FamilyIssues #HomeRepair #ElderCare #SafetyFirst #AdviceNeeded #HelpNeeded #Home #HomeMaintenance #HomeMaintenanceRepair

My New House Has A River In The Backyard When It Rains 😂

I just bought this house and I have a literal river running through my backyard whenever there's heavy rain. It's wild. It flows right into a stormwater drain just outside my property line. Even with normal rain, it's pretty wet, but nothing like a full-on river. My neighbor to the right seems to have some of their own issues. A few of their downspouts go underground and end up pretty close to my property line. They are actually getting some work done on their yard soon, with a better swale and French drains. I talked to the person doing their work, and he said they could continue the French drain all the way down near my stormwater drain. He told me it probably won't stop the river entirely, but it will help dry out the grass so it doesn't stay wet and nasty. He'd also make some swale adjustments. I'm trying to figure out if this sounds like the right plan. Ideally, I would not want this river at all, but I'm just not sure if that's even possible. #HomeownerProblems #BackyardFlooding #Home #BuyingHome #HomeMaintenance #HomeMaintenanceRepair #HelpNeeded

My apartment tour had a gross surprise -- a plant grew right through the floor

I was apartment touring today. In the main bedroom, right out of the floor, there was a living plant growing. It looked like it was coming from under the baseboard. The leasing office lady said it wasn't there just a few days ago, and they even said the carpets are new. My first thought was major moisture problems. But then I figured out what it was. It's a "Tree of Heaven" shoot. Those things are super invasive and evil. They are incredibly hard to kill because their roots just spread everywhere, even through tiny cracks in foundations. You don't even need a lot of moisture for them to pop up. If you just cut them down, more shoots pop up everywhere. This is a huge red flag for an apartment. Has anyone else ever seen something like this when touring a place? I would love to hear your thoughts on what this means for the apartment. #ApartmentHunting #RentingHome #HomeMaintenance #SeekingAdvice #HelpNeeded

How to get oil stains out of my driveway

That annoying moment when you spill oil on your driveway or garage floor? It's the worst. I guess most of us probably grab some kitty litter to soak it up, then maybe scrub with some soap later. But I've been seeing some pretty wild ideas online for getting those stains out. People suggest everything from laundry detergent and toilet bowl cleaner to WD-40 (which honestly, some say just makes it worse!). And then it gets even crazier: there are folks online talking about using Coca-Cola, or even Axe body wash (seriously, that one made me laugh). Someone even suggested a blowtorch – imagine the damage! I even heard a weird one about mayonnaise being used to clean tar off sea turtles, and it makes you wonder if it'd work on concrete, haha. Honestly, for really stubborn stains, maybe the commercial cleaners are the way to go. You know, the ones specifically for oil, sometimes with special bacteria. Probably safer than a blowtorch, anyway 😂 #DIYCleaning #OilStains #Driveway #CleaningTips #HomeMaintenance #Cars
