Should I be worried about this ceiling crack? 🤯
I live in an older 3-story wood frame building, and I’ve noticed the popcorn ceiling in the hallway is starting to crack more and more. A new horizontal crack just showed up recently. Honestly, this looks awful... Should I call someone or maybe even move out? 😦😦😦 #HomeMaintenance #CeilingCracks #HomeSafety #ApartmentLiving

Cracks that appear in drywall are usually formed by stress. This could be from damaged joists or even sinking foundation or other foundation issues. Could also be caused by joist separation.

ok, popcorn is the cheap way to fix cracks in ceilings. what your main problem is that older homes mainly used a lathe and plaster for ceilings and walls. when the plaster comes loose and cracks you can either cut out the affected area and replaster or replace the whole ceiling with drywall over the existing ceiling, which is your best way to fix this problem and will last the lifetime of your home without cracking.

YES!! I noticed a crack like that near my chimney, and a year later, the roof and chimney collapsed. It's a must do to check it out ASAP!
