Manuel Bright+FollowNo such thing as a guaranteed deer bang-flopReal talk: any decent hunting load will drop a deer. The "perfect" bullet doesn't exist - wounded runners happen regardless of caliber. What matters more? Your shooting skills, understanding anatomy, and practice from realistic positions. I've noticed higher velocity rounds like Barnes 130gr give more instant drops, but shot placement beats bullet choice every time. Match your bullet to your range - softer projectiles for distance, monos for close work. Then practice until you can deliver it accurately when it counts. #hunting #bullets ##huntingammo #deerHunting3119Share
bushjill+FollowWhy energy numbers don't tell the whole story - my hunting lessonShot a buck with my 30-06 last season - perfect heart/lung shot, turned everything to mush, but he still ran 400 yards in 10 seconds before dropping. These animals are just tough! Got me thinking about ballistics though. A .22-250 and .45-70 have similar energy on paper, but one's for coyotes and the other drops grizzlies. Energy formulas overweight velocity - if speed killed everything, we'd all be using .17 magnums at 5000 FPS! Big bore cartridges don't need to expand like smaller rounds do. They start big and hit hard. What's your take on energy vs bullet diameter for hunting effectiveness? #hunting #Ballistics #HuntingAmmo1920Share
