are flight deal sites still worth it for premium seats?
I’ve been using Scott’s Cheap Flights for years—honestly, it’s been my go-to for finding affordable flights, especially when I wanted to treat myself to something a little nicer than the usual cramped economy seat. I even paid for the Premium membership because it used to include deals on premium economy and business class, which felt like a real win for those of us who can’t always splurge but want a bit more comfort, especially as we get older and those long flights start to feel even longer on the knees and back.
But now, out of nowhere, they’ve introduced this new Elite tier, and suddenly all the deals on better seats are locked behind an even higher paywall. It’s frustrating—almost like they’re punishing the loyal folks who’ve been supporting them for years. I remember when you could get these deals for free, then it was part of Premium, and now it’s just another upsell. I get that companies need to grow, but does it really have to be at the expense of the people who made them successful in the first place? Especially when the service is basically just sending out emails with deals scraped from other sites.
I’m honestly considering jumping ship to something like Luxury Flight Club, which I hear is free for similar deals. Has anyone here actually tried both? Is Luxury Flight Club really a decent alternative, or am I just going to end up missing out on the good stuff either way? It just feels like these travel deal sites are starting to look more and more like the airlines themselves—always finding new ways to squeeze a little more out of us. Anyone else feeling the same way?
