Beef Cuts Decoded: Find Your Perfect Steak

Identify what you want: tender, lean, or budget-friendly? Each primal cut offers something different. At the butcher counter, look for these 8 primal cuts: chuck, brisket, rib, plate & flank, loin, sirloin, round, and shank. Cuts from the back (like ribeye or tenderloin) are the most tender, while shoulder and leg cuts (like chuck or shank) need slow cooking to get tender. For tender steaks, go for ribeye, NY strip, or filet mignon and cook them hot and fast. If you’re after savings, try chuck roast or flank steak—just braise or marinate and slice against the grain. Don’t forget: USDA Prime has the most marbling, Choice is solid, and Select is leaner. Pick what fits your taste and budget! #BeefCuts #SteakTips #ButcherAdvice #Food #Cooking

Cheap Ground Beef Recipes That Aren’t Tacos 🍔💸

Ground beef is such a budget-friendly protein, but plain beef just doesn’t do it for me. I’ve started buying it in bulk when it’s on sale and freezing it in meal-sized portions—way cheaper than buying small packs every week. My go-to move is to make big batches of chili or shepherd’s pie and portion them out for lunches. I’ll also mix ground beef with veggies and rice, then season it with soy sauce and garlic for a quick stir-fry. Meatballs are another winner—just add breadcrumbs, egg, and whatever herbs are on hand, then bake a whole tray at once. If I’m feeling lazy, I’ll just brown the beef, toss in some frozen mixed veggies, and top it with a fried egg. It’s filling and doesn’t taste like taco night for the third time in a row. Swapping out expensive cuts for ground beef in recipes like stuffed peppers or pasta sauce really stretches my grocery budget. When the price is right, it’s hard to beat for meal prep. #Recipes #budgetmeals #groundbeefideas #mealprep #savemoneyoncooking #Food

We'll definitely back here again with the fam!

My parents loves this place so much we celebrated Mothers Day AND Fathers Day here. Delicious Italian food! But also, they love the generous freebies -- house bread, fried corn-bread appetizer, panna cotta. Thank you. It really goes a long way to make it a really good time for us. The service has always been kind and attentive, and we never felt rushed. They have a backroom that's more ambient and quiet, but it only opens after 5 or 530pm. Parking is OK but I was always able to find street parking. Food: - We love the free bread here and the sundried tomato sauce. So good. It starts off the meal very well. - Salmon Pasta - yummy smoked salmon. The fish eggs are a nice touch to make it more textually interesting! Mom's favorite. - Frutti di Mare - Seafood pasta with mussels, clams, shrimp. Really chewy al dente noodles. Dad's favorite. Probably my favorite too! - Gnocchi Sorrentina - Sausage, Mozzarella -- Their gnocchi was pillowy soft. The mozzarella was so fresh and delicious. - House made Rigatoni with Sausage - this is kinda similar to the above gnocchi but with less tomato sauce. I prefer the chewier texture of the Rigatoni! - Fungho Pizza (Mushroom, Truffles) - Great but no truffle flavor! But fortunately for Fathers Day I got him some italian truffle oil. With it added, it was delicious. And my truffle oil wasn't even the fancy kind! Please actually have truffle flavors on this pizza! - Marinara Pizza. Simple, they nailed it. The crust here is more doughy and medium-thick. It holds up well and tasted fresh out of the oven. - Tiramisu dessert - pretty sweet, just okay even as a big tiramisu lover. I preferred the: - Affogato! Ice cream with espresso. It's just really good. Petite.

Keep Corn on the Cob Fresh All Week

Leave the husks on your corn when you bring it home. The husks lock in moisture and keep the corn from drying out. Don’t even peel back the tips unless you absolutely have to check the kernels. Pop the whole cobs (unwashed) into a large zip-top bag. Squeeze out as much air as you can, seal it up, and stash it in your fridge’s veggie drawer. If you’ve already husked the corn, try to use it within a day or two for the best flavor. Husked corn dries out fast. Planning to freeze? Remove the husks, blanch the cobs or kernels, cool them in ice water, and pack them into freezer bags. Squeeze out the air before freezing. Frozen corn lasts up to a year. Leftover cooked corn should go in an airtight container in the fridge and eaten within 3-5 days. If it smells weird or looks moldy, toss it. #cornonthecob #foodstorage #summertips #Food #Cooking

Big Mac Burger Sauce at Home: Ditch the Drive-Thru

Mix 1/2 cup Avocado Oil Mayo, 2 tbsp ketchup, 1 tbsp yellow mustard, 2 tbsp finely diced pickles, 1 tsp white vinegar, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp onion powder, and a pinch of paprika in a bowl. Stir until everything’s smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning if you want more tang or sweetness. Spread this sauce on a bison & beef burger, then sandwich it between thin slices of locally made sourdough bread. It’s seriously next-level and way healthier than the drive-thru version. You get to control the ingredients, and trust me, the flavor is way better than anything from a 24-hour fast food joint. Late-night cravings solved, and you’ll feel good about it! #BigMacSauce #HealthySwaps #BurgerNight #Food #Cooking

I Found Cans in My Pantry That Are 8 Years Old – Is It Safe to Eat Them?! 😳🍲

Okay, guys, I had to do a little experiment today because I found two cans of Beanie Weenies in my pantry—one I bought yesterday, and the other... it’s been there for 8 years. So, naturally, I had to figure out if it’s still safe to eat. 🤔 We all know canned food lasts forever. But does it? I mean, one has an expiration date of June 2025, but the other one expired in 2017. 🤯 Here’s the thing: expiration dates don’t always tell the whole story. It’s all about how the can looks before you open it. Is it rusted? Is it swollen? Are the seams damaged? These are signs the food could be bad. I almost threw away some perfectly good cans just because they didn’t have a pretty label anymore. I don’t want to risk it with bad food, so I’m tossing anything that’s even a little questionable. Better safe than sorry, right? 🙅‍♀️ #FoodStorage#CannedFood#FoodPreservation

Milk Lasts Longer Than You Think—If You Do This

Always put your milk in the fridge as soon as you get home. If you have a long drive, use a cooler bag to keep it cold. Set your fridge to 40°F (4°C) or lower. Store milk on the shelves, not the door, for a more stable temperature. Keep the lid tightly closed to prevent your milk from absorbing other food odors. Store it away from strong-smelling foods if you can. Never pour unused milk back into the original container. Once it’s been out, it can spoil super fast. Freeze milk if you won’t use it soon. Leave space in the container for expansion and always thaw it in the fridge. Skim milk freezes best, and don’t forget to label it with the date! When buying, grab milk last and pick the one with the furthest date from the back of the fridge. Use the oldest bottles first. It’s really about the small habits! #MilkStorage #KeepItFresh #KitchenTips #Food #Cooking
