I went to an all black elementary school in the 60s. I knew the all black staff because some went to my church & others were family members. All the lunches cooked were fresh veggies and meats. They peel their own potatoes. made homemade chili for the hot dogs. Desserts made from scratch. Lunch beside play time was the highlight of the day. when they integrated schools, the lunch menu was totally different. I'm sorry, yall, but the truth is the truth. The white school food just didn't taste the same. I saw them opening can green beans & bread can from plastic bags & desserts from boxes! I hated the change! It was the most depressing time of my childhood once school was integrated! The white teachers treated me badly. I couldn't understand as a child why blacks were fighting to go to school with the white race. It was & still is a culture shock! THEY NOT LIKE US🙏 JUST MY 2 CENTS.. Sending good vibes...💕

Michelle Obama only wanted the best for the American children, including the food they eat. It’s a shame that some people cannot see that.

Omg. They really need to go back to cooking real food. It was just something about sitting in class smelling the food thru the school. Made you want to stay and learn. Hell I’m 63. So you know real food go way back. Omg those angel biscuits , meatloaf day. Real oven fried chicken. I also worked in the cafeteria at the schools so I know. Start back feeding them real food. Make them smarter

Coming from a 15-year-old from Massachusetts, this is similar to a lot of the nasty foods I've seen (before I decided to go to a private high school rather than my local public one). Elementary and middle school lunches were disgusting, but it was the only time I could eat if my family didn't get much from SNAP at that time. I see many people in the comments complaining about how their money goes to families that don't need benefits, but my family has always been lower middle class and we LIVE off of social security, SNAP, and my grandmother's disability benefits. Even still, it gets tough and this is what I had to eat or I got little to nothing at all. Please prevent cuts to the education system AND SNAP because as much as you don't want to believe it, some of us really need help.
