What do Spanish university cafeterias offer?
They often set meals come with an appetizer, main course, dessert, and a drink.
The appetizers are often things like salad, cocido, which is a kind of stew, meat sauce pasta, or Spanish paella.
The main courses are all sorts of meats, like grilled steak, roasted fish, or pan-fried chicken breast, with served baked vegetables or stewed lentils and a side of bread or potatoes, like fries, mashed potatoes, or roasted potatoes.
For dessert, you might get seasonal fruit, yogurt, flan, or a piece of cake. And the drinks include all kinds of coffee, soft drinks, and water. Some universities even offer meal cards for students to eat on campus every day. A good number of cafeterias provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
About the price? The prices in Spanish university cafeterias are a great deal compared with outside restaurants(a single dish can easily cost over 10 euros!) In the university, the set meals, or "menĂş", usually range from 5 to 7 euros, and never go over 10 euros.
