Pick out ripe, shiny, and firm pears—avoid any with dark bruises. If your pears are still hard, let them ripen in a paper bag with a banana for a few days. Wash your pears in a mix of cold water and vinegar to get rid of any wax or bacteria. Dry them off when you’re done. Peel the pears using a vegetable peeler or paring knife, then cut them in half, core them, and slice or chop as needed. For stovetop steaming, add about an inch of water to your pan, bring it to a boil, and place the pears in a steamer basket over the water. Cover and steam for 5-15 minutes until tender. No steamer? Use the microwave! Put pears in a microwave-safe dish with a bit of water, cover, and microwave in short bursts until soft. Steamed pears are perfect for a healthy treat or smooth puree. #SteamedPears #HealthyDessert #EasyCooking #Food #Cooking
