Seeing #hikingmovie made me think of Deliverance. Yeah I know it’s more about canoeing but hear me out - this movie completely changed how I approach backcountry trips. Those guys go from weekend warriors to pure survival mode so fast. The Chattooga River looks gorgeous but becomes this nightmare pretty quick. As someone who’s done plenty of remote river sections, the isolation factor is terrifyingly real. What gets me is how unprepared they were for everything that could go wrong. No real plan, underestimated the locals, overestimated their own skills. I’ve definitely been guilty of that cocky “we got this” attitude before heading into unknown territory. The banjo scene still gives me chills, and not just because of the creepy factor - it’s that moment when you realize you’re completely out of your element in someone else’s backyard. Ned Beatty and Jon Voight are incredible, but Burt Reynolds really shows what happens when the outdoorsy guy has to step up. Heavy watch but it’ll make you think twice about those “let’s just wing it” adventure plans. #hikingmovie #Deliverance
