Jennifer Rodriguez+FollowTracks is the solo hiking movie that actually gets it rightThe #hikingmovie tag reminded me of Tracks - probably the most realistic solo trekking film I’ve ever seen. Mia Wasikowska walks 1,700 miles across the Australian outback with just her camels and dog, and it’s everything Instagram hiking isn’t. What I love is how they show the boring, grinding parts. The blisters, the mental fatigue, those moments where you question why you’re even doing this. Most adventure movies skip that stuff but it’s like 80% of any long trek. It’s based on her actual memoir too, which makes the whole thing even more impressive. Definitely inspired me to plan some longer desert sections. #hikingmovie #Tracks #solohiking #desert10Share
Christopher Diaz+Follow127 Hours hits different when you’re into solo hikingSaw the #hikingmovie hashtag and had to mention 127 Hours. As someone who spends way too many weekends alone on trails, this one really gets to me. James Franco nails it - starts all confident (been there), then that gradual panic when you realize nobody’s coming. I’ve had those “okay this is actually serious” moments in slot canyons. The psychological stuff is what really stuck with me though. When you’re out there alone for hours, your mind definitely goes to those dark places with family and regrets. Made me think about all the times I’ve hiked without telling anyone my exact route (yeah, stupid I know). It’s not just survival - it’s what happens in your head when everything goes wrong. Danny Boyle really understood that part. Brutal watch but so worth it. Just maybe double-check your gear before your next solo trip. #hikingmovie00Share
Kenneth Lowery+FollowDeliverance is why I always tell someone my route nowSeeing #hikingmovie made me think of Deliverance. Yeah I know it’s more about canoeing but hear me out - this movie completely changed how I approach backcountry trips. Those guys go from weekend warriors to pure survival mode so fast. The Chattooga River looks gorgeous but becomes this nightmare pretty quick. As someone who’s done plenty of remote river sections, the isolation factor is terrifyingly real. What gets me is how unprepared they were for everything that could go wrong. No real plan, underestimated the locals, overestimated their own skills. I’ve definitely been guilty of that cocky “we got this” attitude before heading into unknown territory. The banjo scene still gives me chills, and not just because of the creepy factor - it’s that moment when you realize you’re completely out of your element in someone else’s backyard. Ned Beatty and Jon Voight are incredible, but Burt Reynolds really shows what happens when the outdoorsy guy has to step up. Heavy watch but it’ll make you think twice about those “let’s just wing it” adventure plans. #hikingmovie #Deliverance30Share
