My grandfather hit the beach by boat, while his brother simultaneously parachuted in.They both made it back. Respect to all involved.

Ummm...The average age of those US enlisted soldiers killed on D-Day was 22(not 18). Further, the average age of US officers killed on D-Day was 28. They were hardly "kids."
