Tried an old trick to keep wasps off my porch, and it worked!

My friends have a new porch and they were worried about all the wasps and spiders that would start building nests. My wife told him about her old farmer dad's trick to paint the ceiling sky blue. I was pretty skeptical about it but she insisted. The idea is that the bugs think they are out in the open sky and that predators can find them easily. It sounds like a total myth. But they did it. It has been two years now and they have not seen a single wasp or spider nest on their porch. I filled a brown paper bag filled with discarded plastic bags and fashioned into a hive looking thing and just hung it with a string where the wasps were starting to build a enormous. nest.They took one look at the is s brown paper was as giant wasp nest they completely disappeared. you can also get tme like my fake nest. amazon has these pre made ..just an aside .i did not want to kill them I would have never believed the cheapo brown bag trick would work...crazy but it did ..no wasp around my home

Interesting , bet it’s pretty too , throw in a few clouds and there you go. I’d like that and might just try that. Lots of wasps circling around and making nests in my ceiling fans. Sure keeps you off the porch so we are constantly spraying wasp spray into the fans and so far it has helped but the sky would be something different.

Deleted Dawn dish soap in a spray bottle does wonders killing bugs.

Painting a ceiling on the porch sky blue will not allow an evil spirit to cross. Like using brick dust at a threshold.

Because older paint contained lye which is bug repellent. Paint these days does not have lye. Paper bag interesting.🌸 Dawn and water works for everything! I love it!💕

Yep. We’ve had blue porch ceilings for years. My grandparents always had blue porch ceilings. 🩵 Carolina blue!
