Back to Pho Kim Long • Tomato Snail Rice Noodle Soup~ Same Taste

Had another visit to the famous Pho Kim Long, same amazing taste, but the prices have really gone up! Take my favorite, the No.32 Snail Rice Noodle Soup (pics 1/2/3), you guys believe it? 10 years ago it was just $6.25 per bowl! During the 2020 pandemic it was $11.25 per bowl, and now post pandemic in 2022, it's $15.75 per bowl! If you haven't tried it, better hurry up, fear it’ll be unaffordable next year. This one's really unique, can't find it elsewhere, it's got a sour and refreshing flavor, kinda reminds me of eating snail vermicelli soup! Also ordered: No.1 Beef Pho (their signature dish), beef bone rice, chicken with large prawn combo rice, and Vietnamese spring rolls! The flavors were all pretty good, but don't set your expectations too high. A lot of people hail Pho Kim Long as the best Vietnamese pho store in the Bay Area, but that's not necessarily the case! Heard from older generations that Pho Kim Long became famous for its great value in the early days. It provided larger portions, cheaper prices, and decent taste compared to many competitors, making it a popular choice among locals! Imagine hardworking wage workers spending a few bucks on a big bowl of soup for comfort and warmth after a long day! Summary: Hopefully they won't increase the price anymore [laugh cry emoji]😂! 📍Pho Kim Long 2082 N Capitol Ave, San Jose, CA 95132 #PhoKimLong #TomatoSnailRiceNoodleSoup #No32SnailRiceNoodleSoup #BeefPho #VietnameseSpringRolls #BayAreaPho #AffordableEats #ComfortFood

Creamiest Mashed Potatoes Ever—You Need This Trick

Start by peeling and chopping 3 lbs. of mixed potatoes (I like russets and Yukon Golds for the best texture). Cover them with water in a big pot, toss in a generous pinch of kosher salt, and bring to a boil. Let them cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return the potatoes to the pot. Mash until smooth—use a ricer if you want them extra fluffy! While the potatoes are cooking, warm up 1/2 cup whole milk and 3/4 cup butter in a saucepan until the butter melts. Pour this over the mashed potatoes and stir until creamy. Add 1/2 cup sour cream, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. Top with extra butter and chopped parsley before serving. This is the ultimate comfort food! #MashedPotatoes #ComfortFood #ThanksgivingSides #Food #Cooking

Mac and Cheese That’s Actually Creamy Every Time 🧀

Making homemade macaroni and cheese is all about getting that sauce just right. I always start with a roux—just butter and flour whisked together until it’s golden, then slowly add milk while stirring. Once it thickens, I toss in sharp cheddar and a bit of Gruyère for extra flavor. The key is to melt the cheese off the heat so it doesn’t get gritty. Fold in the cooked macaroni, and it’s ready to go. Sometimes I’ll sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and broil it for a crunchy finish. It’s a simple process, but the texture and taste are way better than boxed versions. If the sauce seems too thick, a splash of pasta water helps loosen it up without losing creaminess. #homemademacandcheese #comfortfood #cheeselover #Food #Cooking

🦢🦢How to eat soup served in a bread bowl elegantly?

Take off the bread bowl lid and dip it into your soup—this is the best way to get that first taste of both bread and soup without making a mess. If you’re not into dipping, just butter the lid and eat it on the side. Use your spoon to enjoy the soup, chowder, or chili while it’s hot. Don’t try to drink from the bread bowl—trust me, it’ll spill everywhere. Wipe up any drips with a napkin and keep things tidy. Once you’ve eaten most of the soup, cut or tear the bread bowl into pieces. Metal utensils work best, but honestly, tearing with your hands is half the fun. Just avoid pulling the bread apart too soon or you’ll end up with a soggy mess. Thick, creamy soups or chili work best in bread bowls. Thin soups will just soak in and ruin the whole experience. If you want to get creative, try pureed veggie soups or anything chunky and hearty. Bread bowls are meant to be enjoyed, not overthought. Grab napkins, dig in, and don’t worry about making it perfect! #BreadBowl #SoupLover #ComfortFood #Food
