High-protein dinner: Clam Boil at Home

First, sort through your clams and tap any open ones—if they don’t close, toss them. Only cook live clams! Soak the clams in cool saltwater for an hour to get rid of sand. Switch to fresh saltwater and soak for another 20 minutes. Scrub them under running water to remove any leftover dirt. Fill a big pot halfway with water, season it with salt, garlic, onions, or even a splash of white wine and lemon for extra flavor. Bring the water to a boil. If you’re adding potatoes, corn, or sausage, put those in first and let them cook a bit before adding the clams. Add the clams and boil for 8-10 minutes until they open. Discard any that stay closed. Serve with lemon juice and enjoy! #ClamBoil #SeafoodLovers #HealthyEating #Food #Cooking

California | Clam Chowder Waves 🌊

On the way to Bodega Bay for the weekend trip 🚗, my foodie friends recommended trying two restaurants for lunch 😂. The second restaurant we tried was this one. The Clam Chowder here is absolutely delicious and different from any other I've had before. No wonder it has consistently received rave reviews for the past twelve years, with a Google rating of 4.7/2600+. The Crab Sandwich with ample and fresh crab meat was also a satisfying choice 💯. We went on a Friday afternoon and had to wait for over twenty minutes in line. I heard the wait on weekends can be even longer 🚶🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️. If you're not in a rush on your weekend trips, it's definitely worth it. ⭐️The small restaurant has limited seating, but if you can't find a seat, you can head to the park across the road, or walk a minute or two to the right to find picnic tables in the park ☀️. Having lunch while enjoying the tranquil bay view is even more delightful. P.S. The neighboring Fishmen's Cove also offers oysters, but personally, I found the oysters at Hog Island to be more delicious. However, the fish and chips at Fishmen's Cove were slightly better. If I had to choose between the two, I would definitely go for the rich Clam Chowder at Spud Point. 📍Spud Point Crab Co. 1910 Westshore Rd, Bodega Bay, CA 94923 @lifeofpotatoes #California #ClamChowderWaves #BodegaBay #FoodieFriends #DeliciousEats #WeekendTrips #BayView #SeafoodLovers

Seafood Sauces, you must give it a try

For a classic kick, mix ketchup with horseradish for a cocktail sauce. Adjust the horseradish to your heat preference and add a squeeze of lemon for brightness. Craving something creamy? Combine mayonnaise and ketchup for a simple, smooth dip. You can toss in a dash of hot sauce or a sprinkle of paprika if you want a little extra flavor. Tartar sauce is a must for fried seafood. Stir together mayo, chopped capers, and diced gherkins. A bit of lemon juice and fresh dill really bring it together and add a fresh crunch. For a rich, savory option, melt butter in a pan, sauté minced garlic until fragrant, then stir in chopped parsley. Drizzle this over shrimp or lobster for pure comfort. Sauces make mild seafood pop—don’t skip them! #SeafoodSauce #EasyRecipes #SeafoodLovers #Food #Cooking

Fried Fish Roe: Crunchy, Savory, and Totally Worth Trying

Start by rinsing your fish roe gently under cold water and patting it dry with a paper towel. Mix some breadcrumbs with salt, pepper, and a pinch of paprika for extra flavor. Dredge the roe in flour, dip it in beaten egg, then coat it in the breadcrumb mix. Heat a generous amount of butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the roe and fry for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Serve immediately with a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of chopped shallots or capers. The texture is so unique—crispy outside, creamy inside. It pairs perfectly with a fresh salad or toast. Frying fish roe is honestly one of the easiest ways to enjoy this delicacy, and the flavor is unbeatable! #FishRoeRecipes #SeafoodLovers #EasyCooking #Food #Cooking

Red Lobster’s Comeback: More Than Just Biscuits

So, Red Lobster isn’t going anywhere. Yep, the endless shrimp drama, the bankruptcy headlines, the memes about cheddar bay biscuits—turns out, it’s all just part of the plot. The company’s officially out of Chapter 11, and honestly, I’m relieved. Not because I’m a seafood snob, but because sometimes you just need a place that serves up comfort food with zero judgment. There’s something oddly reassuring about knowing you can still order a plate of shrimp scampi at 9pm on a Tuesday. Maybe it’s nostalgia, maybe it’s the carbs, but I think we all need those little rituals. Red Lobster’s survival isn’t just about business; it’s about keeping those small joys alive. So, here’s to the comeback. To the biscuits, the butter, and the weirdly satisfying feeling of eating seafood in a landlocked city. Anyone else suddenly craving crab legs? #RedLobster #FoodStories #ComfortFood #Comeback #SeafoodLovers #Food #Foodie

Oyster Cleaning: Scrub, Shuck, and Savor!🦪

Dirt hides in every crease! If you’re feeling extra, a quick ice water soak can help purge any leftover sand, but most oysters are already prepped for you. When it’s time to shuck, safety first: use a glove or a thick towel to steady the oyster, then wiggle your knife into the hinge and pop it open. 🚫Don’t spill that precious oyster liquor—it’s the essence of the sea! Whether you eat them raw on ice or toss them on the grill, just remember: only live oysters make the cut. If the shell’s open and won’t snap shut, toss it. Store your haul in the fridge, cup side down, covered with a damp towel. Skip the ice bath🧊—fresh water is a no-go. Follow these steps and you’ll be slurping like a pro, minus the food poisoning. Happy shucking! #FoodKnowledge #CookingTechniques #KitchenEssentials #SeafoodLovers #Food #Cooking
