My landlord just shut off the water for the entire building because of a single tenant
I can't believe this is happening again. This is now the second time I have come home to no water at my apartment. The note my landlord left says the water is shut off to the entire building because of a single tenant who won't allow them to enter her apartment to fix a leak. It's been off for over ten hours now. It seems insane that a whole building has to go without water because of one person. What about all the people with kids and pets in the building? This has to be weird and probably illegal. It isn't illegal, your neighbor is being difficult and the complex is trying to mitigate any further damage. Sure it's an inconvenience, but not doing so could cause the whole building to be condemned leaving you homeless.

Call the health department and city / county code enforcement. If that tenant has mold they’ll make that person leave until it’s been remediated under health code violations. I lived in an apartment where it happened to me. A basement toilet pipe was leaking. A spontaneous inspection was done in the property and all of the tenants were evicted by 3:30 pm that day. I had just paid rent the day before. One reason why I own my own home now! 🖕🏻 those games!

I did this once. She hadn’t paid rent in months so i shut off heat, gas and electricity. The tenant relationship code said if utilities were inoperable, the tenants could withhold rent until fixed. After a day or so i asked her if she would just leave if i prepaid a week at a motel? She left that day. BTW, it wasnt that cold.

Doesn't the landlord have a right to give notice within reason and then enter the property? I don't know, but I have had landlords do this. She doesn't want him in there for a reason. The landlord should definitely make sure to get in there.

It’s not illegal when you have a leak in your house or building you have to turn off water completely to fix the issue
