After a few hours, I noticed my breath just happened on its own, which made me realize how little control I actually have over life. That was oddly freeing. My room looked extra messy, but I didn’t rush to clean it. I ended up meditating for about six hours, which is the longest I’ve ever done. No huge insights, but I did notice my triggers faded faster and I felt more aware of my unhealthy habits. Surprisingly, the next day I felt genuinely happy for the first time in months. How 11 Years of Meditation Transformed My Life

I started meditating 11 years ago, and it’s taken me on a journey I never could have imagined. I’ve meditated with candle flames, blank walls, the moon, the ocean, my eyelids, in temples, at funerals, in showers, float tanks, and even to Christmas music. Sometimes it’s just 30 seconds, other times it’s 6 hours. Through every season of my life, meditation has been my anchor. Looking back, I was once depressed, anxious, codependent, and lost. Meditation and sacred texts helped me find peace by resting my mind in emptiness. I’m not perfect, but the progress is real and rewarding. I’m so grateful for online communities like this one.
