Brianna Patel+FollowMy contractor's guy tried to stay the night at my new house ๐ฎโ๐จSo I hired a contractor to paint the inside of our new home. We have not moved in yet, so the place is completely empty. A couple of guys were working for the day. One of them stayed very late, and I started to get a weird feeling about it. When I left after dinner, I noticed a big duffle bag outside with toothpaste in the side pocket. I texted the contractor to ask what was going on. He said they were just working late to finish the job. Then, he just casually mentioned that he fully intended for the guy to stay the night in the house. I honestly cannot believe he planned for this guy to stay overnight without ever asking or confirming with me. I am completely weirded out by this. Am I overreacting, or is this a huge red flag? I am hoping someone can tell me if this is normal although it definitely does not feel normal at all. #ContractorIssues #HomeImprovement #RedFlags #HelpNeeded #HomeSecurity #HomeDecor #Home 41121Share
Thomas Clark+FollowMy house has become a drainage nightmareWe bought our dream homes, but they have quickly turned into a living nightmare. Every time it rains, our front yards turn into disgusting, mosquito-infested swamps. The so-called "swales" that were supposed to drain the water just fill up like little ponds. We've reached out to the home builder a dozen times, but they just act like it's no big deal and refuse to do anything. We even went to the county, but they just say their hands are tied. It feels like we have been completely abandoned. We poured our savings into these houses, and now we're left with this mess. We've tried everything we can think of, but we are out of options and out of hope. We just feel so defeated. I am begging for any advice from anyone who has gone through something like this before. What did you do to fix it? ๐ญ #HomeownerProblems #DrainageDesign #DIY #HomeImprovement #AskForHelp #HelpNeeded #Home #HomeMaintenance 1012Share

Thomas Woods+FollowTried an old trick to keep wasps off my porch, and it worked! My friends have a new porch and they were worried about all the wasps and spiders that would start building nests. My wife told him about her old farmer dad's trick to paint the ceiling sky blue. I was pretty skeptical about it but she insisted. The idea is that the bugs think they are out in the open sky and that predators can find them easily. It sounds like a total myth. But they did it. It has been two years now and they have not seen a single wasp or spider nest on their porch. I have to say I am a believer now. #HomeImprovement #Gardening #PestControl #OldWivesTale #Homeowner #DIY #Discussion #LifeHacks 11510Share
Joseph Norris+FollowI actually built this but don't look too closely ๐I guess I'm still pretty new to building things like this, but I still decided to tackle a project in the backyard. I went into this with not much experience and no real plan, just an idea in my head and a pile of wood. It's not perfect by any means, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out. ๐ #DIY #HomeImprovement #BackyardBuild #FirstTimeBuilder #DIYProjects #DIYCommunity #Home 30Share
wmadden+FollowCountertop Mistakes That Kill Home ValueThinking about a kitchen update? Real estate pros say ditching laminate countertops is a must if you care about resale valueโthey make your kitchen look cheap and dated. But donโt rush to splurge on pricey upgrades! Butcher block is a budget-friendly, stylish swap, but honestly, clean cabinets and modern appliances matter way more. Sometimes, a deep clean and fresh paint do more for your wallet than a full reno. Would you swap your counters before selling? #Home #HomeImprovement #KitchenRemodel352Share
Joseph Norris+FollowBathroom renovation before and after๐ I guess the tub is one of the most useless things in the bathroom ๐ Classic upgrade! The space instantly feels more luxurious without that ugly oversized tub. The tile work looks stunning and durable. My only concern is those cabinet towers. They seem way too bulky for the space and will likely be a nightmare to keep clean. #BathroomRenovations #HomeImprovement #BeforeAndAfter #BathroomDesign #Home 24Share
Joseph Norris+FollowGot a weird under-stairs nook. what would you do with it?Weโve got this oddly shaped space under the stairs in our living room, right between the TV and the front door. It's only about 4 feet tall at the highest point and 3 feet deep, so definitely not tall enough for something like bike storage unless we want to wrestle wheels off constantly. ๐ Iโd love to turn it into something both practical and aesthetic, but the depth makes it tricky to access anything stored back there. Curious how others have used a similar space #HomeImprovement #HomeDesign #StorageSolutions #SmallSpaceLiving #HomeDecor #Home 23Share
Joseph Norris+FollowSaying goodbye to this awful 90s orange oak for goodSo happy to see how the front room turned out. The first pic is the staged photo from before, and the second is what it became. They put up and framed a mural, but overall they wanted to keep the space really simple. And for all the orange oak lovers out there, I am so sorry not sorry to say they replaced and painted all that ugly 90s orange oak. It had to go. Brianna Patel+FollowHow to wrap this wainscot panel around a corner like this? ๐คOr end it at the wall?
